
BITE 145: ¿Qué fue el Concilio Vaticano II?
El protestantismo en América Latina tuvo un desarrollo lento en la mayor parte de su historia. La oposición católica era abierta y ejercía una fuerte presión social sobre los nuevos conversos, llegando incluso a persecuciones y linchamientos. Aunque existía libertad de culto, los protestantes y evangélicos eran tratados como una secta herética y condenados públicamente.
Desde los años 80 se ha visto un espectacular crecimiento evangélico, en gran parte debido al movimiento pentecostal. Pero también gracias al cambio sucedido dentro de la iglesia católica. El Concilio Vaticano II fue el momento bisagra que ayuda a comprender la actual relación entre católicos y evangélicos en América Latina, y el surgimiento del movimiento ecuménico actual.
Pero, ¿Por qué este concilio es tan importante y qué tiene que ver con los protestantes?
